On November 19, 2025, PES University’s Faculty of Management and Commerce hosted BTalk #30, a thought-provoking session titled “Career with Impact: Navigating the Sustainability Landscape”. The event featured Harsha Marigowda, Founder of mVerve Sustivon, who shared his insights on sustainability, entrepreneurship, and the evolving role of technology in shaping impactful careers.

Understanding Sustainability Beyond Buzzwords
The session began with a deep dive into the concept of sustainability, breaking it down into its three pillars:

  • Environmental Responsibility
  • Social Responsibility
  • Governance with Ethics

Harsha traced the sustainability movement from its origins in 1972 to its current prominence, illustrating its growing influence on business strategies. Real-world examples like the Volkswagen Dieselgate scandal, Satyam Computers fraud, and Visakhapatnam gas leak highlighted why sustainability is no longer optional—it’s essential for survival.

ESG and Corporate Decision-Making
The speaker introduced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) as a framework shaping modern corporate decisions. He emphasized that businesses ignoring ESG principles risk reputational damage and financial setbacks.

Entrepreneurship & Digital Innovation
Harsha shared his entrepreneurial journey—from launching a student startup to raising millions in venture capital. His candid reflections on failure and resilience resonated with students, reinforcing that setbacks are stepping stones to success.

Key takeaways included:

  • Fundraising insights: Building investor confidence and pitching effectively.
  • Digital monetization: Leveraging platforms like YouTube, podcasts, and online communities for revenue.
  • AI in creativity: Through initiatives like the AI Film Festival, Harsha showcased how AI can amplify creativity rather than replace it.

Quotes to Remember

  • “The internet has no boundaries; your idea can reach the world if you dare to start.”
  • “AI is not here to replace creativity—it’s here to expand it.”
  • “Dream boldly, build bravely, and let curiosity guide your journey.”

Impact on Students
With 285 attendees, the session offered PESU students practical insights into sustainability careers, entrepreneurial resilience, and digital innovation. It encouraged them to experiment, collaborate, and build personal brands online, preparing them for a future where sustainability and technology converge.
