On 10th October 2025, first-semester students from PES University’s Hospitality and Event Management program visited Bharat Glass & Crockeries in Electronic City, Bengaluru. This insightful visit offered students a rare opportunity to explore the backbone of the hospitality industry—tableware, glassware, and commercial kitchen equipment.

Event Highlights

  • Hands-On Experience: Students observed the complete manufacturing process of crockery and glassware.
  • Expert Insights: Mr. Thimmaiah M, Sales Manager, explained the differences between bone china, porcelain, stoneware, and melamine, focusing on durability, heat retention, and suitability for various service scenarios.
  • Industrial Exposure: Students explored industrial-sized ovens, dishwashers, mixers, and cooking ranges, gaining practical knowledge of back-of-house operations.
  • Tactile Learning: Handling different grades of glassware and cutlery helped students understand quality assessment and pricing structures.

Key Learnings

  • Understanding the end-to-end supply chain from manufacturing to bulk procurement.
  • Differentiating between materials and their impact on restaurant themes.
  • Gaining insights into installation specifics and power requirements for heavy kitchen equipment.
  • Learning about pricing strategies and the economic impact of breakage.

With 25 students participating, this visit bridged the gap between classroom theory and real-world hospitality operations, making it an invaluable learning experience.
