The need for promoting population stabilization and improving overall community well-being is vital for societal development. A health education session attended by the local community focused on critical issues of impact of rising population on maternal and child health, food security, housing, and access to quality education. Local residents and staff of the primary health centre were sensitized to how overpopulation contributes to increasing unemployment and strains on essential resources. The session emphasized the importance of responsible family planning in addressing these challenges and cleared misconceptions about the subject. Various contraceptive methods, including spacing and permanent methods were explained in detail, and myths surrounding their use were clarified. An awareness program at the rural health center featured a comprehensive health talk highlighting modern contraceptives and natural family planning methods. The previous week saw the participants visiting a contraceptive awareness kiosk, which offered a variety of options and educational materials. Participants carried placards highlighting key issues of family planning, importance of maternal and child health, and harmful effects of child marriages. Personalized, one on one counseling for eligible couples helped them choose suitable contraception while understanding its health and economic benefits. By combining expert guidance with interactive tools, the event empowered attendees, especially young couples to make informed reproductive decisions together. On the occasion of World Population Day, the Department of Community Medicine, PES Institute of Medical Sciences and Research conducted a health education session at the Gottigere Primary Health Centre (PHC) on July 11, 2025 and an awareness program about population control methods at Rural Health Training Center at Lakkur, on July 15, 2025.
