Clinical meet
PESUIMSR

Informative sessions by accomplished doctors on maternal and child health marked the clinical meet. Dr. Sudeepa D in the opening talk emphasized the critical importance of maternal and child health highlighting the need to ensure well-being from pregnancy through early childhood to lay the foundation for healthier generations ahead. Dr. Shalini Ray addressed MCH inequities entrenched across geographic, economic, and social lines. Dr. Saranya K addressed the indispensable role of healthcare workers particularly ASHA and frontline staff in delivering community based maternal and child health services.

The speakers also detailed several government-led initiatives in India aimed at strengthening maternal and child health services, including Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N), Janani Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, and Mission Indradhanush. The speakers highlighted the urgent need for targeted strategies especially for the most vulnerable populations, which is critical to converting policy into equitable health outcomes. Department of Community Medicine at PESUIMSR hosted the clinical meet titled Healthy Beginnings, Healthy Futures on July 1, 2025.
