A health awareness program was conducted to educate patients and students of nursing on the prevention and management of hypertension. The volunteering students explained the causes of hypertension, importance of blood pressure monitoring, treatment options, potential complications, preventive strategies by way of dietary modifications, regular physical activity, and medication, stress management techniques of meditation and relaxation exercises. For the students of nursing studying at T. John’s Nursing College the detailed session covered: methods of recording blood pressure, symptoms, causes, and investigations related to hypertension, treatment protocols and complications arising from uncontrolled hypertension. A hands-on training to record blood pressure followed by an interactive session on hypertension management was conducted. The Department of Community Medicine of PESUIMSR organized the awareness session for patients and students of nursing on hypertension on May 14, 2025 at Gottigere Primary Health Centre.
