QuaNaD Lab, in association with PES University, PESU Research Foundation, has kick-started a yearlong lecture series to celebrate the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to commemorate 100 years since the discovery of Schrodinger's equation, which defines the behavior of electrons in nature and in all modern-day electronic gadgets.

The first lecture in this series was held on 7th May, 2025. Prof. Vijay Shenoy, dept of Physics, IISc, has delivered the inaugural lecture.

He gave a broad overview of the topological insulators and how Quantum Mechanics enabled their discovery. He also gave a bird's eye view of future technologies that might be built on these materials.

Prof. Nagarjuna Sadineni, Pro VC PES University, in his opening remark, mentioned the importance of new technologies based on quantum research and elaborated how PES University is making strides in adapting to the changing demands of society and its commitment to scientific innovation and preparing the students for the emerging quantum economy.

Prof. Deepa S, director of PESU Research Foundation, and Dr. Gajanan Honnavar were the people behind arranging this lecture.

Chairpersons of various departments attended the talk.
