Department of Orthopedics of PES University Institute of Medical Science and Research has organised a continuing medical education and live surgery of robotic joint replacement at its electronic city campus. The workshop is inaugurated by the chief guest for the event, Dr. Ramesh Krishna, Dean and Director of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute.
Under the guidance of Honourable Chancellor of PES University Dr. M. R. Doreswamy and Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy, Pro-Chancellor, and Dr. Suresh Krishnamurthy, Medical Director of PES University Institute of Medical Science and Research, this unique workshop was conducted for the professionals and medical students. The department of orthopedics achieved this milestone without any in-house robotic systems. Another significant of this workshop is in a single day to feature robotic joint replacement with 4 live surgeries with 3 different robotic systems.
Dr. Ramesh Krishna, spoke on the need to introduce fellowship programs in the PESUIMSR.
Dr. Suresh Krishnamurthy spoke on the world class infrastructure of PESUIMSR. He elaborated that persistent effort to think beyond your limitations, and aim of staying second to none and being on top of our game all the time is a vision carved by our Chancellor Dr. M. R. Dorswamy and Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy who constantly inspires the medical team to upgrade through cutting edge technology and the key performance indicators of our Chief Operating Officer Prof. Ajoy Kumar has fuelled the spirit to take up this challenge.
Dr. Avinash, Head of the Department of Orthopedics said that the concept of robotics is not new to our Bharath. Our mythological stories mention about robotic armies of Ajathashatru's and robots protecting Buddha's relics.
Continuing his talk, Dr. Avinash emphasized that in the midst of a technological revolution, where machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence are transforming our lives. By adding a physical arm to AI, we get robotic systems like the one being displayed today. Staying updated on these advancements is crucial. CME programs like this one aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience through dedicated talks, live surgery, and workshop. Ultimately, robots, like our unconscious mind, rely upon pre-fed data but they always require conscious human guidance. The future lies in symbiosis between humans and machines.

ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ಯೂನಿವರ್ಸಿಟಿ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಮೆಡಿಕಲ್ ಸೈನ್ಸ್ ಅಂಡ್ ರಿಸರ್ಚ್ನ ಮೂಳೆಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ವಿಭಾಗವು ತನ್ನ ಎಲೆಕ್ಟ್ರಾನಿಕ್ ಸಿಟಿ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರಂತರ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ ಜಂಟಿ ಬದಲಿ ನೇರ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಾರವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡೀನ್ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಡಾ.ರಮೇಶ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು.
ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ಕುಲಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಾದ ಡಾ.ಎಂ.ಆರ್.ದೊರೆಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮ-ಕುಲಾಧಿಪತಿ ಪ್ರೊ.ಜವಾಹರ್ ದೊರೆಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಡಾ.ಸುರೇಶ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರವನ್ನು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಯಾವುದೇ ಆಂತರಿಕ ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಮೂಳೆಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಕ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಈ ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಿದೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸಂಗತಿಯೆಂದರೆ ಒಂದೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ 3 ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ 4 ಜಾಯಿಂಟ್ / ಮಂಡಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಳನ್ನುನೇರ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಡಾ.ರಮೇಶ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣ, PESUIMSR ನಲ್ಲಿ ಫೆಲೋಶಿಪ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಯ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಡಾ.ಸುರೇಶ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರು PESUIMSR ನ ವಿಶ್ವದರ್ಜೆಯ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಯೋಚಿಸುವ ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಯಾವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಅದ್ವಿತೀಯವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಆಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಾರ್ವಕಾಲಿಕವಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಯುವ ಗುರಿಯು ನಮ್ಮ ಕುಲಾಧಿಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಎಂ. ಆರ್. ದೊರೆಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೊ. ಜವಾಹರ ದೊರೆಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವರು ಕೆತ್ತಿದ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಔನ್ಯತ್ಯಕ್ಕೇರಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಖ್ಯ
ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಣಾ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರೊ. ಅಜೋಯ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಷಮತೆ ಸೂಚಕಗಳು ಈ ಸವಾಲನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಉತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿವೆ.
ಆರ್ಥೋಪೆಡಿಕ್ಸ್ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಡಾ.ಅವಿನಾಶ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ಸ್ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಸದಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಅಜಾತಶತ್ರುವಿನ ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ ಸೇನೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧನ ಅವಶೇಷಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ರೋಬೋಟ್ಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದರು.
ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಿದ ಡಾ.ಅವಿನಾಶ್ ಅವರು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಯಂತ್ರ ಕಲಿಕೆ, ಆಳವಾದ ಕಲಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು. AI ಗೆ ಭೌತಿಕ ತೋಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ, ನಾವು ಇಂದು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಂತಹ ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ ಸಿಸ್ಟಮ್ಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಅರಿವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವುದು ಅತ್ಯವಶ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ CME ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಮಾತುಕತೆಗಳು, ನೇರ ಪ್ರಸಾರದ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಕಲಿಕೆಯ ಅನುಭವವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿವೆ. ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿ, ರೋಬೋಟ್ಗಳು, ನಮ್ಮ ಸುಪ್ತ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಂತೆ, ಮೊದಲೇ ನೀಡಿದ ದತ್ತಾಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಜಾಗೃತ ಮಾನವ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಭವಿಷ್ಯವು ಮಾನವರು ಮತ್ತು ಯಂತ್ರಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಹಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
