The inauguration and orientation of the First Year classes for B.Tech and B.Arch programs of PES University was inaugurated on Sep 14 2024. Sri Harish Dwarkanahalli, President, Wipro, alumnus of PES Institute of Technology was the chief guest on the occasion. Sri Harish said that students must lay emphasis on fundamentals and learn to apply critical thinking, analytical thinking for a creative mindset. Students should focus on core competencies. He pointed out that multi disciplinary capabilities will equip the students to face global competition. Distinguishing success for an individual or institution is based on their sense of purpose and the extent of grounding of oneself.

In his presidential address, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University said that the students should get inspired from Bharatha Rathna Sir M.Visvesvaraya, where he showed punctuality and discipline throughout his life. Sir M. V. brought rural to global level through his humble qualities and hard work.  Dr. Doreswamy asked the enthusiastic parents to show the same throughout their children’s academic life. He added that PES has a legacy of inspiring students to achieve high by encouraging through merit scholarships of over 5 crore rupees is given away every year.  Prof. Doreswamy said that the present generation is living in the new India, where tremendous growth is happening everyday and  wanted students to be part of that development and make India a great nation. All these things are possible for students through following the footsteps of Sir M. Visvesvaraya.   

Dr. J. Surya Prasad, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Ajoy Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Harsha Chaturvedi, CTO and Prof. Nagarjuna Sadineni, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University were on the occasion.  Dr. K.S. Sridhar, the Registrar of the University proposed the welcome address and Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Chairperson of the Department of Science and Humanities rendered the vote of thanks. Prof. CNR and Prof. MRD merit scholarships were presented to meritorious students by the dignitaries.  The dignitaries also offered their floral tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya as 15th of September is his birth anniversary.

Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor of PES University held an orientation session for all the first-year students highlighting important information about the University and the practices students need to follow to become successful in their lives.
