PES University organized a two-day Faculty Development Program on Mentoring and Mental Well-being on 1st and 2nd of August 2023. Dr. Gururaj Karajagi, a renowned motivational speaker and author, spoke on the art and science of mentoring in the current generation. He emphasized the importance of mentoring in higher education through diverse case studies. Dr. Karajagi stressed on connecting with students as a basic requirement of successful mentoring. He Said that mentoring is not a one-way approach. But two-way, where both the mentor and mentee learn together and succeed in their objectives.
Dr. C. R. Chnadrashekhar, a well-known psychiatrist and author of many books on mental health and well-being spoke on mental well-being, the nuances in the current world. He covered many topics like addiction in youth, causes of suicide in youngsters and its prevention, and how to handle stress in academic life and later in their career.
More than 500 faculty members participated in the program. The program was inaugurated and presided over by Honorable Chancellor of PES University Dr. M. R. Doreswamy and Pro-Chancellor of PES University Prof. D. Jawahar. Vice Chancellor Dr. J. Suryaprasad and Registrar Dr. K. S. Sridhar was also present during the FDP.
