Dr. Kokila P

I am Dr. Kokila Paramanandam, currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of CSE-AIML at PES University, Bangalore. I bring over 16 years of academic experience, and my teaching portfolio spans a diverse range of subjects including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Cloud Computing, and Computer Networks & Security among some others.

My research interests are centered around Artificial Intelligence, Explainable AI, Computer Vision, Cloud Computing, and the Internet of Things. I’ve published my work extensively in SCI-indexed journals and leading international conferences, and I also hold a patent in the domain of Artificial Intelligence.

Beyond teaching and research, I actively contribute to institutional development through roles such as Program Coordinator and Academic Committee Member. I’ve organized and supported various technical events, guest lectures, and student hackathons, and have also served as an External Deputy Chief Superintendent (DCS) for VTU Theory Examinations across multiple engineering colleges in Bangalore.

I’m passionate about continuous faculty development and regularly take part in FDPs and technical workshops. I’m technically proficient in Python, TensorFlow, Keras, OpenCV, MATLAB, and scikit-learn, with deep expertise in AI/ML and image processing tools. I’m a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and have been recognized for my contributions in academic mentoring, curriculum development, and technical design.

I’ve had the opportunity to guide several innovative and socially relevant student projects, including Multimodal Context-Aware Suspicious Activity Detection, Automated Irrigation Systems, 3D Building Construction Models, Reliable Medical Image Segmentation, Adaptive Conversational AI, Automatic Vehicle Detection and Monitoring, AR Glasses for Dyslexic Individuals etc.

Additionally, I’ve successfully secured funding from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) to support impactful student projects and research initiatives.

My professional journey is driven by a strong passion for creating interdisciplinary, real-world learning experiences and for leveraging emerging technologies to solve meaningful societal problems.
