Late Dr. M R Doreswamy
Founded PES in 1972 with just over 40 students — the vision that grew into a university of more than 18,000 students across four campuses today.
About
Dr. M R Doreswamy founded PES in Bangalore in 1972, starting with a little over 40 students. That founding class has since grown into a university with more than 18,000 students spread across four campuses in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh — a scale he attributed to a steady focus on academic quality and the trust of generations of parents.
The institution's name itself carries his founding philosophy: PES stands for Perseverance, Excellence and Service, values he set out as the foundation for how the university would educate its students. Alongside academics, he emphasized building empathy and environmental awareness in students, believing education's role went beyond skills to shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
