On 4th November 2025, first-semester students of PES University’s Faculty of Architecture embarked on an inspiring site visit to the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), located on Kasturba Road, Bengaluru. This visit was part of the Architectural & Urban Photography (UA25FA133AA1) course enrichment module.

Purpose of the Visit
The objective was to immerse students in professional standards of visual documentation, exhibition design, and spatial experience within a contemporary museum setting. The visit aimed to enhance their understanding of how photography and architecture intersect to communicate culture and narrative.

Learning Highlights

  • Exploring Galleries
    • Students observed diverse exhibits, including photography collections, architectural displays, art installations, and digital exhibits.
  • Role of Light and Composition
    • The visit emphasized how lighting, framing, and spatial organization influence visual storytelling and user experience.
  • Digital Art and Archival Collections
    • Students learned how museums use technology and curated displays to preserve and present cultural narratives effectively.

Impact on Students
This experiential learning opportunity encouraged students to analyze built spaces through the lens of photography, fostering visual sensitivity and strengthening their ability to represent architecture creatively.
