On December 4, 2025, in observance of World AIDS Day, an impactful awareness program was held at Gottigere Primary Health Centre, conducted by PESU Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PESUIMSR) under the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.” The event aimed to educate and empower the community about HIV/AIDS prevention and care.

Key Highlights of the Program

  • Understanding HIV/AIDS: Participants learned what AIDS is, how HIV affects the human body, and the common symptoms associated with the disease.
  • Preventive Measures: The session emphasized safe sexual practices, proper screening of blood transfusion units, and the use of disposable syringes to prevent infection.
  • Early Diagnosis and Treatment: The importance of timely screening and treatment was discussed to reduce complications and improve health outcomes.
  • Breaking Stigma: Misconceptions and social stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS were addressed, promoting acceptance and supportive attitudes toward people living with HIV.

Impact on the Community
The program saw active participation from 20–25 patients at the PHC. It successfully improved awareness, dispelled myths, and encouraged positive health-seeking behavior. By fostering knowledge and empathy, the initiative contributed to building a more informed and inclusive society.
