On 8th October 2025, the Department of Biotechnology at PES University organized an impactful Cancer Awareness Drive in collaboration with Shankara Cancer Hospital. The event was supported by Aikya PESU, Collegiate Social Responsibility (CSR) PESU, and Rotaract PESU, reflecting the university’s commitment to social responsibility and health education.

The primary objective of the drive was to shed light on the various types of cancer, including head and neck cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer, and to emphasize the importance of early detection and preventive care.
Three distinguished surgeons and consultants from Shankara Cancer Hospital—Dr. Rekha BR, Dr. Sasi Mouli VVHPK, and Dr. Sreeram MP—shared their expertise and personal experiences in patient care. Their insights provided students with a deeper understanding of cancer treatment, challenges, and the emotional aspects of healthcare.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across engineering and non-engineering streams, including PES Polytechnic College. The audience engaged actively, asking thoughtful questions about cancer types, symptoms, and preventive measures. The specialists expressed their appreciation for the curiosity and involvement shown by the students.
This initiative not only educated attendees about cancer but also cultivated a sense of responsibility towards cancer prevention and care. By bridging the gap between medical professionals and young minds, PES University reaffirmed its dedication to creating a healthier and more informed society.
