On 14th October 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, PESU Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PESUIMSR), observed World Mental Health Day at the Rural Health and Training Centre (RHTC), Lakkur.

Theme for 2025
“Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies”
The focus was on ensuring mental health care during disasters and crisis situations, emphasizing early diagnosis, timely intervention, and reducing stigma.

Program Highlights

  • Interactive sessions on stress management and coping strategies.
  • Discussions on the availability of mental health services during emergencies.
  • Psychiatry team insights on common psychological issues and stigma reduction.
  • Awareness materials like posters and leaflets educating the community on recognizing early signs of mental distress.
