The 10th annual convocation of PES University was held on August 31 2025 at the PES University campus. Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University presided over the function and awarded certificates to Ph.D. and rank holders.
Prof. Rajkumar Buyya, Professor, School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne, Australia, was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. Dr. Buyya congratulated all young graduates for receiving their graduation certificates and requested them to give a standing ovation and formally express their gratitude to their parents and teachers by humbly bowing down their head in Namaskara position. He quoted Tapodivam- a life of tapasya, ie., austerity aimed at a higher purpose. Dr. Buyya referred to many Bhagavad-Gita verses to inspire students and cited that many great personalities like Einstein, Steve Jobs, M.K.Gandhi, etc, looked for inspirations from the Gita. Dr. Buyya shared that personally he was happy to contribute to India’s indigenous supercomputer and wished that the young generation would contribute to nation building by maintaining a steady mind, which can be learnt by referring to spiritual books like Bhagavad-Gita. He suggested combining education and wealth for the betterment of our societies.
Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University, unveiled the scroll of honor and presented the oath to passing out graduates. In his presidential address, he congratulated students and said that this day is not only about achievement, but also about the values that are woven into the very fabric of PES. These values are the legacy of our founder Dr. Doreswamy. Dr. Doreswamy lived his life with three values: Perseverance, Excellence and Service. In this, perseverance is to never give up, even when challenges seem insurmountable. Excellence is not as a destination, but is a lifelong pursuit in everything we do and finally service- to remember always that knowledge is most meaningful when it uplifts others and contributes to society. Prof. Jawahar wanted every student to remember that perseverance will be their anchor, excellence their compass and service their polestar as a destination. He noted that the students carry not just the name of PES University but the charge to navigate the real world with courage and conviction.
Vice-Chancellor of PES University Dr. J. Surya Prasad welcomed the dignitaries and audiences. Dr. K.S. Sridhar, Registrar rendered the vote of thanks. In all 4607 students received their degree, including 9 Ph.D awardees, 1 M.Tech by research awardee and 1128 Master’s Degree. Of those students who received bachelor’s degrees, 93 graduated with University ranks, 1907 graduated with distinction, 238 completed bachelor’s degree along with minor degree. Of those students who received master’s degrees, 17 graduated with University rank honors, 553 graduated with distinction.
Chief Operating Officer Prof. Ajoy Kumar, Controller of Examinations Dr. Karthik S and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
