Architecture PESU RR Campus

The workshop focused on using Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) as primary material for brick bonding to provide students of architecture with a practical understanding of traditional techniques. The participants worked with unique, one-to-one scale model-making activity using MDF as the primary material and replicated various brick bonds to grasp the structural logic, aesthetic variations, and modular rhythm of different brickwork techniques. The insightful guidance on the visual and structural significance of each bond, encouraged students to consider bond selection as both a technical and expressive design Decision. Students also explored the design and construction of Jali windows, a traditional architectural element known for its ornamental latticework. Working in groups of two to three, they conceptualized and constructed Jali screens using MDF, applying their understanding of void-solid relationships, light modulation, and ventilation. Workshop on MDF Brick Bonding was conducted by renowned artist Mr. Ramesh Katti on April 29, 2025 at RR campus.
