Open Mic offers students a platform to showcase before a live audience their creative talent in poetry recitals, musical performances, stand-up comedy, and story-telling. The event began with a rendition of the iconic Dead Poets Society speech, in which John Keating ignited a passion for poetry in his students with the line, "Carpe diem, seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary." Thirty performances with nine group acts over three hours were presented, ranging from stand-up comedy to instrumental renditions and moving pieces of poetry about universal themes such as love, loss, and the trials and tribulations of life. Between performances, childhood memories submitted by attendees were read aloud. Ms. Sushma, Head of the Department of Performing Arts, graced OPEN MIC 24 organized by Write Angle club, in collaboration with the Music Club of PES, on November 15, 2024 in TDM Studio of RR campus.
