Dr. Oakley, a Distinguished Professor of Engineering at Oakland University, Michigan, New York Times best-selling author, and recipient of the prestigious McGraw Prize is renowned for her expertise in learning methodologies. She is the creator of Coursera’s popular course, Learning How to Learn, which has attracted nearly four million students worldwide. Dr. Oakley highlighted the role of artificial intelligence, particularly transformer models, in enhancing cognitive functions like attention, synthesis, and retention in learning. She emphasized that AI is not merely a tool for answering questions but can serve as a customizable teaching aid that fosters innovation and productivity. By comparing AI to the workings of the human brain, Dr. Oakley showcased how AI-generated prompts can address specific learning challenges, driving more effective outcomes.
