The orientation and inauguration ceremony for the first batch of students admitted to first year MBBS Course was held at PES University’s Electronic City Campus on October 13, 2024.
Shri. Dr. Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka was the chief guest of the occasion. He congratulated all the students for taking admission to a University known for imparting quality education. He emphasized the importance of strong communication skills in medicine, enabling doctors to connect with patients and foster trust in them. Dr. Patil advised students to serve the society with empathy, honesty and dedication and also urged them to have humility, shoulder responsibility, and maintain high ethical conduct and standards throughout their life. He concluded his address by stating that while "PES set high standards, it is the responsibility of the student to effectively use all the facilities provided by the university and live up to the expectations of the university".
In his presidential address, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University, motivated the students to draw inspiration from the legendary physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. B. C. Roy, a visionary whose contributions to healthcare and medical education have left an indelible mark. Dr. Doreswamy also underscored the importance of research in advancing public health and improving lives.
Dr. AchalGulati, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, the Guest of Honor, noted that this day marks a transformative milestone where aspiring individuals step into the medical profession. He remarked that the first batch has brought life and purpose to the institution's infrastructure, stating, "Your journey with destiny begins at medical school". Dr. Gulati further offered to provide guidance on professionalism, ethics, communication, and attitude, advising students to reflect, adapt, and constantly evolve to improve themselves.
Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor of PES University, conducted an orientation session for the new entrants, providing essential information about the university’s core practices and how to navigate their academic path to achieve success.
Dr. J. Suryaprasad, Vice-Chancellor of PES University, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of humility and reverence toward the divine on such an auspicious occasion. He mentioned that, "PES is an experience and a passion brought to life. PESU-IMSR is more than an institution; it is a legacy created by visionaries committed to ensuring the success of future doctors".
Among the dignitaries present were Prof. Ajoy Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Suresh Krishnamurthy, Medical Director of PESU-IMSR, Dr. Roopa Suresh, Associate Medical Director of PESU-IMSR, and Prof. Nagarjuna Sadineni, Pro-Vice Chancellor of PES University. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Hariprasad T. R., Dean and Principal of PESU-IMSR.
