PES University proudly inaugurated the first-year classes for various courses including Computer Applications, Commerce, Design, Economics, Law, Management, Psychology, and Performing Arts at a grand ceremony held on July 21, 2024, at the University’s auditorium.

Prof. M. R. He insisted on creating a value based atmosphere on campus. He called upon students to understand the culture, heritage and tradition of India.

He expressed concerns that the rising crime rates are mainly because of lack of moral values. Every student in addition to knowledge, chasing success, competition and ambition must be taught of empathy, fraternity, brotherhood, respect to life and giving dignity to fellow citizens and compassion of care and sharing.

He praised Prof. Jawahar steering PES University to the Pinnacle of Progress in the last 10 years by creating world class infrastructure along with focus on teaching-learning-assessment, placements-scholarships-incentives, research-innovation-incubation which are PESU’s greatest gifts to its stakeholders.

He highlighted the significant shift in educational preferences, particularly Chartered Accountants are now in high demand globally. He emphasized the university's commitment to providing holistic education that encompasses both academic excellence and cultural values. Dr. M. R. Doreswamy recounted his visit to the US in 1985, where he observed the strong emphasis on fostering educational institutions that attract students worldwide. He noted that Indian students now consider colleges in India on par with foreign universities.

Dr. M. R. Doreswamy also underscored the crucial role of teachers in nation-building, attributing the success of PES students to faculty. He assured that PES University will continue to prepare its students to ensure they are not deprived of job opportunities. For the cause of good education, he reaffirmed that PES continuously strives to provide the best faculty and infrastructure. He emphasized the irreplaceable value of hard work.

Highlighting India's rich cultural heritage, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy stated that India is the cultural capital of the world, with a legacy shaped by saints and noble persons like Adi Shankaracharya and Swami Vivekananda. He stressed that culture and values are integral to student success. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of three M’s that shape every individual and society, viz, Mother, Mother Tongue, and Motherland. He stated that those who value three M’s are valued everywhere.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shreyas Hosur IAS, Senior Divisional Finance Manager, Ministry of Railways, Government of India, and distinguished alumnus of PES University. In his address, Mr. Hosur shared his journey and the profound impact PES University had on his career. He imparted key messages to students, emphasizing that their marks do matter, as until they go out there, struggle, and make a mark for themselves, the only thing that speaks for them is marks. He highlighted the importance of networking and socializing, which helps in exploring new knowledge and collaboration. He encouraged students to accept failures and rejections as part of life, face them, and move on. Mr. Hosur also stressed the need to focus on health, both physical and mental, as without it, knowledge and ambitions have no use, and reminded the students that no success comes overnight. He also addressed parents to encourage them to engage with their children's academic lives and support their exploration and growth without imposing decisions.

Prof. D. Jawahar, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor and CEO of PES University, officially inaugurated the courses and wished the new students success in their academic endeavors.
