The students presented multi-disciplinary ideas that addressed issues related to hydrothermal energy, biofuels, application of IoT in photo bioreactors, using AI for development of superior strains of algal biofuels, hydrocarbon fuels and energy storage. The expert panel evaluated the presentations on novelty, feasibility, cost effectiveness, social impact and presentation skills and awarded prizes that were jointly sponsored by Mozarc Medical. Strain improvement of algal biofuels through genetic engineering approach was awarded as best idea with reference to renewable energy production. Increasing the efficiency of photobioreactor integration with IOT tools was awarded the second prize. The two ideas on generation of electricity using microbial fuel cells using waste water and energy efficient solar cells using bio-nanocomposites were awarded third prize. The expert panel advised the winners to seek funding for their research projects. The Green EnergyThon an interdepartmental Hackathon event conducted by Department of Biotechnology on February 10, 2024 at RR campus.
