Students advised to aim high and serve the country: Prof. M. R. Doreswamy

Inauguration of the First Year classes for B.Tech, B.Pharm, and BSc Nursing programs of PES University was held on Aug 27, 2023 at the Electronic City Campus. Mr. Mekin Maheshwari, Founder Udhyam Learning Foundation, alumnus of PES Institute of Technology was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, Sri. Mekin Maheshwari said that it is very important for students to work hard and there are no shortcuts to it. He also advised the students to participate in extracurricular activities conducted in college which in turn enhances their leadership qualities. He requested the students to listen to oneself while making a decision and to aim high. He asked students to focus more on understanding the concept and building on them which enhances their ability to solve problems.
In his presidential address, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University said that every student should have a dream in life towards which one has to work relentlessly. He also said that success depends on not only securing good grades but also inculcating values in oneself. He advised students to have Bharata Ratna Sir. M. Visvesvaraya and Dr. Abdul Kalam as role models in their lives. He also mentioned that as engineers they have a huge responsibility towards the society, in changing the destiny of the country. He said that PES focuses on two sectors - Education and Health and emphasized that the pharma industry plays a vital role in our country by producing drugs of good standard at minimal cost. He also informed the gathering that the PES University hospital will serve people of 140 villages in and around Electronic City which consists of about 2 lakh people.
Dr. J. Surya Prasad, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Ajoy Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of the University were present on the occasion. Dr. K. S. Sridhar, Registrar of the University proposed the welcome address and Dr. Karthiyayini Roy, Chairperson of the Department of Science and Humanities rendered the vote of thanks. Prof. CNR and Prof. MRD merit scholarships were presented to meritorious students by the dignitaries.
Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor of PES University held an orientation session for all the first-year students highlighting important information about the University and the practices students need to follow to become successful in their lives.
