Greatest Strength of Our Country is Educated Youngsters says Prof. M R Doreswamy

The Faculty Development Program on “Impact of AI in Education” of PES University was held at the PES University EC campus. Dr. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE, Govt. of India was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, Dr. T. G. Sitharam had highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of education, medicine, automobile, industrial needs etc. Dr. T. G. Sitharam did announce that a draft on the Compulsory Student Mentoring Work report has been made after the guidance and Suggestion by Dr. M. R. Doreswamy; AICTE will make the Student Mentoring as compulsory process in all the institutes of our country including IITs. He urges faculties to utilize the AI tools developed by AICTE for enhancing the teaching-learning process. Dr. T. G. Sitharam informed to focus on Job providing rather than job seeking. In his presidential address, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University said that greatest strength of our country is educated young human resources. He indicated the importance of student mentoring; which provides individual attention to identify strength & weakness. He did mention that there are 3500 Engineering Institutes in our country, and the quality of the engineering college can be enhanced through student mentoring programs. Dr. M. R. Doreswamy advised the Chairman of AICTE to make 3 to 6 months of faculty training program for master degree graduates of Engineering & Medicine rather than directly allowing for teaching. He did advise faculty members to get up-to-date with the advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to sharpen the teaching-learning process. Importance of research & innovation was highlighted at the conclusion of his address. Dr. J Surya Prasad, Vice Chancellor, welcomed the distinguished guest on behalf of staff, management & attendees. The formal symposium on “Impact of AI in Education” has begun after the inauguration of the event.
