The Department of Management & Commerce, PES University, EC Campus has organized a “Traffic Awareness Program” held on 18th January, 2023. The awareness program was done at Hosa Road Junction. The main aim of the program was to make the grass root level of citizens aware of the traffic rules and the road safety measures. The students had put up a street play on “Road safety Awareness” for the general public by enacting a scenario where the traffic rules are violated by the public and how as responsible citizens we must abide by the rules. The students were very enthusiastic and scripted a plot within a short span of time. A small street play was conducted to raise awareness about the drink and drive cases. They staged a live demonstration to captivate the audience and prevent such incidents in the future. We produced some pluck cards to illustrate a few statements which read "DON'T LET CHEERS TURN INTO TEARS". "THINK AND DRIVE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE, SO YOU TO SURVIVE". Etc. Later, a speech given by the students in different languages about Road safety and to inform drivers about the rules of the road and the importance of good choices: wearing helmets, no speeding while driving and avoiding alcohol or medications that affect awareness. At the end they concluded by singing out a few slogans.
The event has been coordinated by team Vriddhi and by Prof. Gyanamayee Panigrahi, Prof. Raghu Y, Prof. Chetna Jha under FOMC. Students benefited immensely from the session. Looking forward to hosting more such events.
The Traffic Police appreciated the performance and thanked PES University for showing interest in spreading Social Awareness. They also gave us the opportunity to come up with such events in the near future as well, for the benefit of the general public.
