Team Aeolus secured second place in the design proposal phase of the AIAA-DBF 2019-20 competition to be held in Wichita, Kansas, USA. The DBF (Design/Build/Fly) is an international aero-modelling competition conducted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and sponsored by the Cessna Aircraft Company, Raytheon Missile Systems and other premier organisations. This year's challenge required the designing of a banner towing bush plane which can also be repurposed as a charter aircraft. In response to this, 141 teams from reputed universities across the world submitted their design proposals. 113 teams were shortlisted for the subsequent stages. Team Aeolus improved upon its effort in last year’s competition by gaining 37 places to reach the 2nd place globally at this stage of the competition. Team Aeolus is the aeromodelling and aerial robotics team of PES University.
