Experts believe that climate change is the defining issue of our time and now is the defining moment to do something about it. Vijay Karnataka and Bangalore Environment Trust jointly organised a national seminar on Climate Change. Prof J Srinivasan, IISc in his address outlined the impact of climate change in India. Ms Nirmala Gowda, Trustee-BET described the on ground reality of climate change. Dr H Paramesh, Pediatric Pulmonologist and environmentalist spoke about the effect of climate change on human health in his session. Speaking on the occasion Dr M R Doreswamy, Chancellor PES University observed that the effect of climate change on agriculture for a country like India where 60% of irrigation is rain-fed can be devastating. He added that despite the scant rainfall, 1.4 million people have been affected by the floods due to heavy rainfall in some parts of India this year. He put forth the need to make students aware by introducing the topics related to climate change in the curriculum at school level. The national seminar on Climate Change organised by Vijay Karnataka and BET was held at PES University campus on Nov 22, 2019.
