The students of Microsoft Innovation Lab at PES University participate in an annual summer internship where they work on cutting edge projects in the domains of Robotics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Sensor Networks, Virtual Reality, Brain-Computer Interface and App Development. The results and demos of these projects were presented at Roadshow 2018, an event attended by a large number of students from all the engineering disciplines at PES university. Students developed an app to aid Alzheimer’s patients. They studied the control of devices with the eyes and brain to benefit differently abled members of society. Architectural plans were brought to life with VR and rooms were mapped by robots. Other robots learnt to catch balls and walk, while computers were taught to play video games better than humans. An image generator for forensic applications generated faces from descriptions and intruders in a home were detected with energy aware routing in sensor networks. The event was a grand success, and the presenters were kept on their feet, explaining their work and answering questions. The summer interns gained valuable experience in presenting their work, while the attendees gained exposure to research ideas and methods of conducting research. We hope to that such events will create an environment conducive to innovative research at PES University.
