Shri Asish Ballal, Former Hockey Captain and Goalkeeper, Indian Hockey Team, Dr. I B Vijayalakshmi, Professor – Paediatric Cardiology, Bangalore Medical College and Research Centre were the guests of Honor. Dr M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University presided over the programme. Around 1550 stakeholders of PES Group of Institutions took active participation in IYD-2018. The Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) which is essentially a specified sequence of Yogaasanas of 45 minutes duration as prescribed by Ministry of Ayush was adopted by PES University. Addressing the audience Sri Ananth Kumar ji, Hon’ble Union Minister said that in UNO if any resolution needs to be passed then that resolution must be accepted by the majority of countries. In this regard, when our Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji proposed International Yoga Day, around 176 countries including America, China, Russia, Japan, France, Germany, England, Saudi Arabia and other middle east countries not just resolved to accept the proposal but all of the 176 counties became co-sponsors of the same. All the representatives of 176 countries said that it is not the representation of India, but a united proposal from all of us. He recalled that Dr. I B Vijaylakshmi’s statement “there are 39 acupoints in hand and when we rightly applaud through hand and not through finger, these 39 acupoints will help different parts of body to function properly as blood circulation will become smooth”. He said that he has imbibed yoga and an active practitioner from past 4 decades. If I am active and relaxed even under tremendous pressures, it is only because of Yoga – he added. He appreciated Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University for organizing such a beautiful event since its inception in 2015. He said “MRD” is the “Master of Resource Development”. Addressing the audience Dr. M R Doreswamy said Yoga is always given prominence at PES starting from PU (Pre University) to PG (Post Graduation). It is a fundamental unit of PES. Hon’ble Minister has already stated the significance of Yoga. “Yoga is one of the significant contributions of India to Mankind and every Indian must be proud of it”. The art of practicing yoga helps in controlling an individual’s mind, body and soul. It brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind; it helps manage stress and anxiety and keeps you relaxing. Yoga is a secular and global phenomenon.
